What quality setting should I choose?
80% is the sweet spot — visually identical for photos at a fraction of the size. Use 60-70% for web thumbnails where every KB counts, and 90%+ for print-bound images.
Why did one of my files say "already optimized"?
If re-encoding would have produced a bigger file, we keep your original untouched — you always get the smaller of the two.
Is there any upload involved?
